Shortfall ('Gap') Insurance

Shortfall Insurance helps protect you from suffering significant financial loss.

If your new vehicle is stolen or damaged beyond repair, there may be a 'gap' between its insured value and what you still owe the financier. You may also suffer various out-of-pocket expenses while finding a replacement vehicle.

Finance Gap Insurance helps protect you from falling into this gap and suffering a financial loss and personal inconvenience.

Finance Gap provides cover for the 'gap' between the insured value of your vehicle and the amount owed to the finance company.

It also provides additional cover for expenses that you will have to pay when you replace your lost vehicle including items like:

  • Repaying you the excess that you had to pay your insurance company for a total loss.
  • Delivery charges for your replacement vehicle.
  • Registration cost for your replacement vehicle.
  • CTP for your replacement vehicle.
  • Stamp Duty for your replacement vehicle.
  • Up to 10 days car hire while you arrange a new vehicle.
  • Comprehensive Insurance for your replacement vehicle.

For full details on shortfall insurance products, please refer to the relevant Product Disclosure Statements/Policy Documents.

* Please note that Shortfall Insurance does not cover any premiums which are owed for your comprehensive motor vehicle insurance policy.
